Overview
Some drones use two batteries at the same time (dual-pack configuration). Battery Pairs lets you tell the system which two batteries fly together so that when a flight log is uploaded, both batteries are automatically recognised and tracked — even when the log only records the serial number of one battery.
Which batteries support pairing?
Battery pairing is available for battery models that are designed for dual-pack drones. The currently supported models are: "TB30", "TB50", "TB51", "TB55", "TB60", "TB65".
If your battery model is not listed above, the Pairs tab will not appear in the battery details. Contact support if you believe your battery model should be supported.
Pairing rules
- Both batteries must be the same model (e.g. you cannot pair a TB30 with a TB60).
- Each battery can only belong to one pair at a time. If you need to change a pairing, remove the existing pair first.
- Pairing is company-scoped — you can only pair batteries that belong to your organisation.
Creating a battery pair
- Open the battery details — Go to Fleet > Batteries and click on the battery you want to pair.
- Navigate to the Pairs tab — Click the link icon tab in the battery modal. This tab is only visible for supported battery models.
- Click "Add pair" — The Add pair button is in the top-right corner of the Pairs tab.
- Select the partner battery — Use the dropdown to search for the battery that flies alongside this one. Only batteries of the same model that are not already paired will appear in the list.
- Click "Save pair" — The pair is created and will appear in the table below. Both batteries will now show this pair in their respective Pairs tabs.
Removing a battery pair
If batteries are no longer flying together (e.g. one has been retired or reassigned), you should remove the pair so the system does not incorrectly associate them on future flights.
- Open either battery in the pair and navigate to the Pairs tab.
- Find the pair in the table and click the delete (bin) icon on the right.
- Confirm the removal in the dialog that appears.
Note: Removing a pair does not delete any flight logs or battery logs. It only removes the association between the two batteries for future flight log processing.
How pairing works with flight logs
When a flight log is uploaded from a dual-pack drone, the system typically receives the serial number of one battery but not the other. Without a configured pair, the second battery log is created as "unlinked" and must be manually assigned.
With a pair configured, the system automatically looks up the partner battery and links the second battery log to the correct battery record. This means:
- Both batteries have their cycle counts updated automatically.
- Battery health metrics (voltage, charge, temperature) are tracked per individual battery.
- The battery inventory shows accurate flight counts and usage for both batteries.
Swapping batteries between drones
If you regularly rotate batteries between drones (e.g. you have a pool of 4 batteries shared across 2 drones), you should configure the pair that reflects the current physical pairing. When you swap batteries:
- Remove the old pair (if the combination has changed).
- Create a new pair with the current battery combination.
The system only supports one active pair per battery. If your batteries are frequently rotated, keep the pair configuration up to date to ensure accurate tracking.
Frequently asked questions
I can't see the Pairs tab on my battery.
The Pairs tab only appears for battery models that support dual-pack pairing (TB30, TB60, TB65). If your battery is a different model, the tab will not be shown.
Can I pair batteries of different models?
No. Both batteries in a pair must be the same model. The system enforces this when creating a pair.
What happens to existing flight logs when I create a pair?
Creating a pair does not retroactively update existing flight logs. It only affects future flight log processing. Existing unlinked battery logs can still be manually assigned.
I deleted a pair by mistake. Is any data lost?
No. Removing a pair does not delete any battery logs or flight data. You can simply recreate the pair.
The partner battery I want to pair with is not showing in the dropdown.
Check that the partner battery exists in your battery inventory, is the same model, and is not already in another pair. If it is already paired with a different battery, remove that pair first
