We have released several new features, as well as addressing some bugs.
New Features
Airspace Approvals: Access to British Transport Police TDA through new process
The BTP are conducting ongoing BVLOS drone trials in the Knighton Fields area of Leicester, and a TDA has been established to support those operations. Rather than restricting the airspace at all times, this new process allows operators to access the area when it is safe to do so.
What’s changing?
Under certain limited circumstances, your flight plan may now require approval from the BTP.
If your planned operation:
- Intersects the TDA, and
- Is scheduled for a date and time when the TDA is active (visible in the NOTAM),
Dronecloud will automatically submit your flight plan to the BTP for review.
The BTP will approve the plan when they are not conducting emergency live saving operations and the airspace is available. BTP will positively engage with all airspace requests and aim to facilitate all valid requests in a timely manner. If the BTP are flying at that time, they may reject the request for safety reasons. You’ll be notified of their decision by email and within the Dronecloud app via the operation status. No further action is needed from you unless the BTP provide additional instructions.
Why this matters
This change is designed to enable access to the airspace wherever possible, rather than applying blanket restrictions, while ensuring safe coordination with ongoing Police BVLOS trials.
2. Audit Log Notes
You can now add notes to audit trails for both fleet items (such as aircraft and batteries) and operations.
For operations, notes can be added even after the flight is marked as Completed, allowing post-flight observations to be recorded.
3. Helicopter Routes
Current helicopter routes into and out of the London area are now displayed on the map, improving situational awareness.
4. On-Site Observations
In addition to images, you can now upload Word and PDF files to the on-site observations section.
5. Edit Your Phone Number
Users can now edit their own telephone number from their profile page (top right). Phone numbers and email addresses can no longer be edited in the Company Settings (Users) table.
Please note that updated numbers are subject to validation.
6. Currency Expiry Reminder Emails
Organisation administrators can now enable reminder emails to be sent when a user’s currency is approaching expiry.
This can be configured under Organisation → Settings → Company → Pilot Currency Settings.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where yaw/heading values were misinterpreted by a factor of 10 in the flight log viewer.
- Resolved a problem where wind speeds were reported using incorrect units.
- Fixed an issue where bullet points and numbered lists did not display correctly in the operation planning text editor (e.g. the Description field).
