Flight Area Limit Changes
Hard Limit - 10,000 km²
- This is the maximum bounding box size for retrieving airspace data
- If your flight area exceeds this limit, you'll need to reduce the size before proceeding
- This ensures reliable airspace information for your flight
Soft Limit - 36 km²
- This is the maximum bounding box size for retrieving ground hazards data
- If your flight area exceeds this limit, you'll receive a warning
- You can acknowledge the warning and proceed, but ground hazards won't be available as flight advisories
- You can still review ground hazards by inspecting the map directly
The bounding box is the smallest rectangle that can be drawn around your flight polygon with all points inside it. For example:
- A long, narrow flight path may have a larger bounding box than its actual flight area
- An L-shaped or irregular polygon may have a bounding box significantly larger than the polygon itself
If you need to cover a large area:
- Consider splitting your operation into multiple smaller flight areas
- Keep flight paths compact to minimize bounding box size
- Avoid creating irregular shapes that result in large bounding boxes
